The project supports the development of play opportunities within communities and geographical areas where access to play opportunities is limited. It also has a soft play room offering free drop in sessions for disabled and disadvantaged children and their families in an area of acute deprivation. The new soft play room offers a seperate multi use space for arts and crafts, reading and further play. We have an experienced Play Supervisor on hand to lead sessions with parent/carers and children and to offer help and advice about how you can facilitate play independently. Part of the Play development project this service delivers sessions in creative drama and dance to young people 5-11 and urban projects in street dance and fusion projects for the 11+ group. Sessions explore modern drama and movement techniques popular in youth culture, offering young people the chance to build on existing artistic skills and to develop new tools. Sessions encourage self expression, creativity and exploratory physical methods through the performing arts. The service encourages the participation of young people and recognises the importance of their voices in continuing development work. For further information, our brochure or to join our mailing list contact Joseph on 0208 373 2699.

Carers are encouraged to stay if they wish or to make arrangements to meet young people at the end of sessions. Young people are not the responsibility of staff outside of the room. Please remember that sessions are meant to be fun, but our staff are there to run a safe session for everyone. Anyone taking part needs to listen to and respect staff members, anyone not mindful of this will be asked to leave. Please come in comfortable clothing and footwear.

All ages are a guideline for parents discretion, as some material may be difficult or unsuitable for younger ages .
Sessions are free of charge ,Funded by Capital Help a London Child .Aimed at all young people who enjoy dance, drama & performing, learning new moves or whom would like to access vocationally based expressive arts activities.
Sessions focus on street jazz, physical drama and popular dance styles ( a mixture of traditional dance techniques originating in the USA as part of urban youth culture; a style most frequently seen in modern dance videos and theatre )though we will also explore musical theatre, jazz, expressive and contemporary dance styles with the addition of visits from artists offering various cultural styles form African to Salsa amongst others. Sessions are designed to be challenging and are run as a vocational adult class offering dynamic warm ups and some dance technique, before teaching material by a variety of choreographers. All levels are welcome to come and join in,staff will encourage you to work to your maximum, but are sympathetic to each individuals own level. Sessions are weekly and explore different material so it is not necasary to attend every session; though regular attendance will benefit young peoples ability to learn material, which may be revisited!
Sessions explore creative and expressive drama exercises, working to improvise and devise short scenes with children for one hour. The second hour offers the chance to take part in fun and funky dance moves towrads a short routine with choreographers.

A half term extension of our popular saturday sessions, exploring fusions or urban and modern dance styles with young people.

There is no booking process, please arrive before the start times to sign in. Numbers are subject to the teachers discretion.

The project aims to help families on low income, by finding them low cost and refubished goods such as white goods, second hand furniture and baby clothes. Also if you are a community project or business that needs good quality yet cheap office furniture and computers, this project can help. The project not only helps you but doing so reduces waste in London.
